Úna Brennan Rose Hydrate Facial Oil (Available in Boots- £14.99, sometimes on a 1/3 offer!)
I had become quite bored with my cleansing routine. So in order to mix things up, I purchased this cleansing oil from Boots.
So how did it fare as a CLEANSING OIL :-
For starters — it is not viscous enough, making it quite difficult to play around with — as in, it DOES NOT have the slip or grip that is normally associated with a cleansing oil. I personally like something that is more greasy.
However, don’t get me wrong—-it does a FABULOUS job of removing the makeup (thick mascara as well). All I need to do is, use 4-5 drops of the oil, massage my skin. I then use a warm microfiber and gently remove the makeup & mascara.
It works extremely well as a pre-cleanse (the suggested use on the bottle states that it should be used a pre-cleanse). It can be used either as a first/second cleanse. There is no residue whatsoever. The oil doesn’t leave the skin squeaky clean/dry. My skin feels so incredibly soft that I do not feel the need to use a moisturiser/ facial oil afterwards. Supple!!!!
As with all cleansing oils, a drop or two will not suffice. And a 30 ml bottle will definitely not last long enough! In order to make the bottle last long, I have devised a method which will help me make each cleanse a perfect lush experience.
I mix a drop or two of this facial oil with my Una Brennan Rose Hydrate Calming Creamy Cleanser. This combination is so spot-on. The grease quotient is JUST RIGHT. The combination makes it so much easier to remove the grime. I prefer it to the method 1 (mentioned above). I do follow a similar procedure- massage the cleanser+oil mix, wipe clean with a warm microfiber. This is followed by a double cleanse either by the same cleanser or something similar.
3. You might say, well this second method defeats the very purpose of a cleansing oil. Well, my answer is — yes & no.
Yes— because it is pre-cleanse and should be used as such.
No— i cannot justify squandering money on a tiny bottle, because i need a lot!!!! So i very much prefer method 2.
4. Repurchase: YES ! Úna Brennan is fast becoming one of my favourite skincare brands and i am looking forward to trying more from her brand.
